The Ford 462 V8 was the replacement for the long produced Ford 430 V8 but it wasn’t around long. This engine was used only in Lincoln Continentals from 1966 to 1968. Supposedly the engine was very smooth and worked well in large vehicles like the Lincoln but undoubtedly it was not smooth enough and production was stopped in the late part of 1967. One interesting fact about this engine was the incredible amount of torque it produced. Official ratings put it at having 485 foot pounds of torque at only 2800 rpms. So if you felt like dragging a battleship behind you in your new Lincoln back in 1966 then you would be okay.
