Dodge - Plymouth 241 V8 Engine
The Dodge 241 V8 engine played a very important role in the history of American muscle as it was the first HEMI engine that would have a Dodge nameplate on it. Chrysler had built their first HEMI engine which was the 331 V8 in 1951 but had not pushed this technology any further in cars sold to the public.
The Dodge 241 was also known as the Red Ram and produced 150 horsepower by 1954. The 241 only lasted in the Dodge lineup until the end of 1954 and Plymouth then decided to use the engine for their 1955 model year. It was also the first V8 engine that Plymouth ever offered.
